genext2fs software package provides ext2 filesystem generator for embedded systems, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install genext2fs
genext2fs is installed in your system.
Make ensure the genext2fs package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep genext2fs *
You will get with genext2fs package name, version, architecture and description in a table
